Yep... another year is over.

And what did I do in 2010.

I participated in 12 Craftster craft swaps. I saw a bunch of movies. I participated in the Relay for Life for the second year in a row. I went to 4 different renaissance or medieval faires. I attended a gaming convention. I started this blog. I did 2 wench walks. I started Weight Watchers and lost 40+ pounds. My mom went into remission. I took belly dancing and hopefully can start again soon. I got engaged. I went to the zoo a lot. I went to the Newport Aquarium. I watched the fireworks from Huntington Field. I saw Wicked. I started College. I ate at some amazing restaurants I had never eaten at before. I saw 2 roller derby bouts. I participated in Making Strides against Breast Cancer. I was part of my first, but not last, blog party. I went to a couple of craft faires. I found amazing things at thrift stores. I began a  new relationship with my father and his wife, Lesley. I did karaoke at least once. I played a lot of Rock Band…

Holiday Wrap-up 2010.

And as quickly as it began the holidays are now over. There was much exchanging of gifts and eating as well as lots of quality time with our families. Friday night, so Christmas Eve, we went to the house of Seth's paternal grandparents. We ate alot, met their new dog, Thor, watched Avatar and watched the littluns open gifts. Then we came home and exchanged gifts with each other since Christmas day was so full. I got him a classic Ipod, two PS3 games (Batman: Arkham Asylum & Assains Creed) , three Bluray (The Dark Night, KickAss & The Breakfast Club), and the soundtrack to the musical Avenue Q. He got me a USB Turntable (yeah records), Sword and The Stone on DVD, and Despicable Me and the Shrek series on Bluray, a couple of gift cards and other assorted oddities.

On Christmas we started at Seth's maternal grandparent's house; where we ate more, watched more little kids open presents and played with Seth's grandma's new kittens. They are so cute. I wanted to t…

To All My Friends...

Have a Blessed Yule and Happy Solstice!!!

Bright Blessings!!

And Now For Something Completely Different.

I will be turning 30 in March, and while I am not traumatized by this as some of my friends have been I acknowledge that it is a fairly important birthday. I am not going to give up pigtails and t-shirts with cute designs like one of my friends, or completely panic about getting old like others, but I still feel like I should do something special to celebrate being 3 decades old. My idea, which I will admit I took from another friend, is to make a list of 30 things to do before my 30th birthday. I made these realistic mini goals, or easily accomplished things, that I have never done or feel I would like to do. Right now I have a list of 27 things, and I am trying to fill in those final 3. I thought I would share my list and see if anyone has any good ideas of other items to add to the list.

1) Go Sledding
2) Fly a Kite
3) Paintball
4) See Cirque du Soliel (this is cheating a bit because Seth bought us tickets for February and I know, but...)
5) Go to Burlesque Show
6) Go to Drag Show

A Winter Zoo Trip.

Image
Tonight Seth and I braved the cold (it's below freezing here) and went to the Columbus Zoo for their Holiday Wildlights. As members we get in for free so we wanted to make sure we got there at least once this year. As we entered I went straight to the gift shop because it was so cold my hat was just not cutting it as ear protection so I bought one of those microfiber headband ear warmer things (technical term). During this season the zoo has to make a small fortune on winter gear because of people like me who come out completely unprepared. :) After that we bought hot chocolate in a light up insulated mug, because I had to have one. Finally we walked around to look at the lights. We only stayed an hour and a half or so because of the cold, but here are some photos of the beautiful lights. I am especially in love with the northwind lights...it had more lights that made it look like it was blowing, so cool. Oh... and there is a photo of Seth and I with a holiday frog. I love frogs. …

A Break From Yule/ Christmas...

Image
It's been a while since I posted anything about it, but it's always there marinating in the back of my mind. I am going to have to get to working on it sooner than I am comfortable with too. Yes... I am talking about my wedding.

I have a lot of amazing decorating and crafting ideas and I thought I would share some of the ones I was thinking of using here.
A paper chain using old books.
I'm thinking of using something similar as place cards and favors.
These are candles rolled in epsom salts...aren't they beautiful.
Vintage Suitcase Card Holder
Dried Flower Bouquet
Lot's more to come. I just wanted to share some of the current running ideas and such. :)

More Holiday Joy.

This weekend was our Ladies of the family holiday get together, what we called Cricket's Christmas Tour (Cricket was my Grandma's nickname). It all started at 10am at my house. There was me, my mom, my sister Traci, my aunt Cathy, my aunt Gayle, my cousin Mandy, my cousin Lynsi and her daughter Kynadey. Everyone checked out my decorations, which was the whole point of the tour really, and I gave everyone a gift of a Hearth Cricket that I ordered from Victorian Trading Company. They were really well received.

From my house we went on to my aunt Gayle's house, then to my mom's house and finally to my aunt Cathy's. After going to every house to look at decorations we went to Puerto Vallarta for Mexican food and good conversation. It was just generally a fantastic day.
On Sunday it was snowing and pretty much nasty out of doors, so some plans we had were cancelled, but I still braved the snow to pick up fabric to make a stocking for the Yule WWP swap. I had previously b…

The First Weekend of the Holiday Season.

Image
Well the weekend was a whirlwind, I feel like I barely got to sit. But it was good busy.

On Saturday I went into my hometown to go with my mother to a get together for her graduating class. It was at Buckeye Winery in downtown Newark. I tasted their Pomegranate-Wildberry Eternity wine and their red ice wine. Both of them were super tasty, but I ended up taking home two bottles of the pomegranate. It was a really nice night, all of the attendees were pleasant and welcoming. I completely forgot my camera though, so I am hoping to get some pictures of the amazingly decorated courthouse on my next trip to town, which will be Saturday.
Yesterday we ran to Target in the morning to get some wine related items, because after I bought the wine I realized that I had no wine glasses or a wine stopper,  in the past I have not been a very big wine drinker, but currently I love it, so... Anyway I was in Target and I saw this hat  It is so fantastically 1920's. I tried it on immediately and fell i…
