Starting a new year

Image
And it is 2015. I will be 34 in a couple months. We will celebrate our third anniversary. I will have a year without school so we can get ready for the chaos of finishing my bachelor's degree.    I am looking at this as a rebuilding year, getting ready for the things ahead.   My word of the year is: Evolve.   This year I am going to work on making my life work more efficiently. I will be adjusting and adapting in preparation for what is ahead.   My 2015 goals are: to complete 6+ 5ks, 10ks or whatever, to do a mud run, to take a pole dance class, do more with the lost vikings, attend Earth Warrior's again, do a ropes course or zip line, attend another pagan event, get bowling ball drilled, bowl a 200 game, go hiking 6+ times, go camping, take a class from Heather at Violet Flame Gifts, Find a new gym that offers group fitness, keep my house picked up at all times, do paintball, get necessary house repairs done, work on meditation.   ...

Winter Pagan Fitness Challenge - Goals

Image
To jump start me back into good behavior, and get myself back on the right track, I decided to sign up again for the pagan fitness challenge. I have done it before fairly successfully, but this time I am going to pull out the stops and make myself push harder. This challenge goes to just after my birthday, which is March 14, so I am considering this a til my b-day goal list. I already had on my list of yearly goals a couple of health/fitness goals . Those are: I will register and run warrior dash again (and do it in under 1 hour) I will start taking belly dance again. I will keep up my healthy diet and exercise program, and get down to a size 10.  I will get to where I can do 25 regular push-ups.  I will start skating and training for Roller Derby again.  I will find a new family Dr. and go get a full physical, and get all my blood levels, etc. checked.  These are great long term goals, but for this challenge I am going to set several smaller and more realis...

It's beginning to look a lot like...

Yule!! My house is almost ready for the season to begin. I have two parties at my house on the 15th, so I need to be ready. Here are some pics of everything so far. I plan to get a tabletop fresh tree for my dining room table and I want to string popcorn for it. I haven't done that in years and I really have a desire to do it.  I had a meeting with an advisor from school today, and I was able to change my major and get a plan of action for the next several semesters. I am now officially an English major!! I am beyond excited about this. I feel like I am truly working toward a major I really want to study and toward a career I really want to pursue. I also got my classes scheduled for Spring. This means something else off my goal list for the next year. Woo-hoo! I'm chipping away at it little by little. I have several more things in the works, like my sister's going away party, and holiday crafting. I'm on a roll.  * I will...

Back to life, Being a wife and Accidental Turkeys

Image
Now that the wedding is completely over, and the final bits of stress have gone, it is time to settle back in to our normal lives. It's funny how crazy things get leading up to the wedding, and then it's over. Just like that. I am gearing up to start classes again at the beginning of the year. I just don't know what I want to do. I began school as a paralegal major, but I just don't have a passion for it which is important to me. My passion, and what my heart wants, is to be an English Professor. I just know it is a huge monetary and time investment, and I don't know if we can afford it. It's really hard for me to make a decision this big. I think the problem I run into is that I can see so clearly both sides of the issue, that I cannot stop seeing all the negatives, and weighing them heavily. *sigh* I need to just make a decision and stick with it; easier said than done, right? With Samhain beginning the witches year, I decided to set myself some Samhain to ...

Spring into Fitness Week 1 Update

Image
Week one is over and here's where I am. I did really well on exercise. I got up at 5 and worked out 30-40 minutes on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and we did the big hike on Saturday. Tuesday I woke up with stomach pains and stomach issues and exercise do not mix, so I skipped my workout that day. Sunday was Easter and I just didn't get a chance to workout that day. I did fly a kite that day though, so I got at least a little exercise. For eating, I definitely ate more fruit and veggies. And during the week my eating was awesome. I did a really good job of keeping myself healthy and portioned well. Saturday morning I was really bad. My family went out to breakfast before hiking and that meant the breakfast bar at Frisches. Buffets are my achille's heel. I just want to keep eating and you know not everything I'm picking up is healthy.Sigh. At least we did go hiking after, and I ate well the rest of the day, but still. Sunday I was really proud of myself, becau...

Spring into Fitness

Image
When I heard the new description for the Spring into Fitness challenge from  get off your broom  I was so intrigued that I had to jump into this round. I will spare you a complete description and just say that if you are interested after reading my goals and such that you should check out the get off your broom blog. This is me on 3-24 .  My starting numbers: Weight: 209 Bust: 45.5 Waist: 39.5 Hips: 43 Thigh: 23 Bicep: 13.25 TASK 1: Set your goals and make a plan.  My goal is to weigh under 199 pounds by the end of the challenge and to have dropped one dress size. To make this happen I will: Continue on Weight Watchers. I have recently switched to points plus, and kind of love it. I like that weight watchers really encourages you to eat well and when I am consistent and really do it, it works really well. Work out at least 30 minutes a day 7 days a week. Eat no fried foods at all...not even fries at sit down restaurants. Eat more fish an...

Being 31...thoughts on goals and much more

Image
And it's my birthday. I am officially 31. I have had an amazing couple of years coming into this age. I am engaged to a man who makes me truly happy. I have gotten my weight under control and get healthier everyday. I am going to school and doing really well, maintaining an A and B average. My mother is healthier than ever and has gotten her weight under control. My little sister has a new job that she loves and is getting her health under control. Life is generally really good right now. I did not do as well with my goals this time as I had in the past. I got a lot of the wedding stuff done, but a lot of the personal things got pushed aside. I will get to them in time I have no doubt. I am going to begin rolling out my next set of goals and decide what my completion date will be. I am going to do a couple of carry overs, but I really want to try to come up with a set of new goals. Things I hadn't thought of before. Any ideas? Please share. 1) fly a kite (yep it's st...

Two years later...

Image
Today is the two year anniversary of this blog. :) Yep it was two years ago today that I decided to jump into the world of blogging not really even knowing what that meant. And it has been a great two years. I have gotten to know so many amazing people from all across the globe and it is a beautiful thing. In case you were curious, this is my very first post.  Funny how much things can change, rearrange, be reevaluated and rejected in two years, isn't it? And where am I today? Well I am working on changing my major to English, so I can transfer to a four year college to continue my bachelor's, master's and possibly phd. We shall see. I am going to start applying for scholarships like mad so that after the wedding I can hopefully start attending class full time and work part time (if at all) to finish my degree. Seth is still looking for work after being laid off at the beginning of the year. The biggest issue is that he is not going to find a job that pays as well as...

When I grow up...

Image
I want to be an English professor. I want to teach people how to love books. I want to write. I want to help other people with their writing. I want to be happy. I want to be loved. I want to love. I want to be encouraged to be crazy. I want to be creative. I want to be a roller girl. I want to travel more. I want to be comfortable, but not rich. I want to be an awesome aunt. I want to be more "green". I want to be a great wife. I want to take more time to read. I want more tattoos. I want to add colored stripes to my hair. I want to get my phd. I want to volunteer more. I want to make more art. I want to stop compromising. So I am going to. :)

My weekend, redeeming 2012 a bit.

Image
Things are feeling a little better around here now. I got my car back from the shop this week and she is good as new, though they had to remove some of my in car decorations in order to fix things, so I will have to do some fixing. I had a very successful night of wedding crafting on Friday, which I will post more about on Tuesday. On Saturday Seth and I went to lunch at  Dirty Frank's  again, and had some amazing hot dogs. This time I got their tofurkey dogs, instead of the all beef, and they were really good. This is what my yummy lunch looked like.   Their food is seriously yummy. The dogs are called (starting with the left) Puff the Magic Popper, Chicago and Beano, lol. After lunch we ran to the big downtown branch of the Columbus Metro Library. They had an amazing selection of audio books, so I grabbed a bunch to listen to at work. I also grabbed a couple of new print books. Makes me happy. And at the Library gift shop I bought myself a pair of adorable earrings tha...

A new year... welcome to 2012.

to you and yours.  I spent New Years Eve with my two favorite wenches and my favorite rogue. Much wine was drunk, creme brulee was eaten, karaoke was sung, conversations were had, laughter was shared, champagne bottles were opened with swords and catching up was done. It was a great night, but I have no photographic evidence. *sigh* Having too much fun to use a camera. It's officially 2012. The year is beginning a bit questionably, but I have hope that it will all work itself out fairly quickly. Seth is now officially unemployed. It could not have come at a worse time. We have so much wedding that we really need to get done/started, and we can't because we don't know when Seth will be employed again. The very scary possibility of possibly having to cancel the wedding altogether has been spoken of, but nothing that extreme will happen until absolutely necessary. For now I am going to do some workings to find him a job, and help him figure out where he wants to be. That...

Life...Goals, Wedding, Zombies and more

Image
First off I want to thank everyone who stopped by my tea party and to say a big hello to my new followers!! I can't wait to get to know you all. I so loved going to all the amazing blogs and their equally amazing parties. I am already starting to plot and plan for Halloween. I have some big ideas that I am really hoping I can make come to fruition. I've got plenty of time to work on things, so I'm sure I can make something amazing happen. Michael's is already getting Halloween and Fall items stocked in the stores, which is honestly just fueling the fire. I think I know what my costume is going to be, already, sad isn't it. Right now I am thinking of dressing as Alice from the SyFy miniseries. On a non Halloween note Seth and I are starting to review and will be touring some Wedding locations. We have several that we like and are considering. I will keep updates on final decisions and information. We are also going to start buying fabrics soon, so watch for that ...

I'm officially the big three-oh...

Image
So... I'm 30. And I got 19 items out of 30 completed from my 30 by 30. I am going to give myself to the end of the month to finish the remaining 11 items. A lot of the craft related goals will be much easier to finish now that my craft room is pretty much functional. I just need a good big table for the middle. I am going to hit a thrift store next week while I'm off to hopefully find one. 1)  Go Sledding (we're researching hills, so it should happen soon) 2) Fly a Kite (I have the kite, just need a good day) 3) Paintball/ Lazer Tag 4)  See Cirque du Soliel (Feb 12) 5)  Go to Burlesque Show 6)  Go to Drag Show 7)  Go to Columbus Museum of Art 8) Go to Gallery Hop 9) Get a Massage 10) Get craft room set up in attic. 11)  Read/listen to 10 books I have never read (I am up to 9 read) 12)  Set up a functional work out schedule 13) Learn to resin cast 14) Update scrapbooks to current (I have fallen behind this year) 15) Learn to solder. 16...

A week until 30...

Image
The last part of the week was a little crazy. I took Thursday off, after having a minor panic attack, in order to finish writing a paper for my English class. It was totally worth the day, because I got a great paper written, and I was paid a great compliment from my professor. Said professor is really pushing me to become an English major. He pointed out that if I get my bachelor's degree in English I can just go take a test and then work as a paralegal anyway. I have to say that his words are getting through. He obviously sees something in me that is making him take such an interest in my major, and (let's be honest) that is the major I  really want to pursue. So now I am torn again. My mom said something that really made me think too. She said, sweets if you were really set on the paralegal path then what he said wouldn't effect you, and she's right. This quarter I am continuing with the paralegal path, but I may talk to my professor and see what the options are. ...
